Description

This session will discuss the whys and hows of inclusive technology leadership and the design of such education systems that serve all students, including students with disabilities who require assistive technology and/or accessible educational materials. Effective technology leadership promotes the development of a balanced and inclusive technology infrastructure where assistive technology (AT) and instructional technology (IT) coordinate to ensure the independence, participation, and progress of students with disabilities.

The Center on Inclusive Technology & Education Systems (CITES), funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, is partnering with a cohort of districts to develop a framework of key leadership practices and tools for creating and sustaining inclusive technology systems of the future. This session will feature the early outcomes of one of the districts in the CITES cohort, research behind the practices, tools for implementation, and recommendations will be shared.
