Description
Research shows that effective family engagement practices positively impact educators, families, and learners. These practices are also requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA). Delve into the dynamic realm of including families when selecting and implementing assistive technology (AT) and accessible educational materials (AEM) as part of your district's inclusive technology system. Explore openly licensed resources from two national programs, StepUp AT and the Center on Inclusive Technology and Education Systems (CITES). Engage in interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative exercises that will empower your team to collaborate with families and implement AT and AEM effectively. By the end of this session, you will be equipped with the practical knowledge to support the development of your district’s plan for an inclusive learning environment where families are actively engaged partners in their learners' educational journey.
